Listen Up! Mentoring is Our Responsibility
In 2000, T. Leon Williams introduced the unthinkable concept of students of diverse populations (SDP) in the heartland of America, Iowa! This concept charged students to serve as peer mentors, cultural advocates, and accountability partners. As a result, new found relationships were established. Most importantly, students learned how to celebrate others without sacrificing their authentic-self.
Williams took advantage of this concept to help students strengthen their purpose in in the classroom and community. Williams leadership provided the much needed support to students from rural Iowa to inner-city Chicago to Japan. Williams is a jewel in helping students engage in difficult dialogues that stretch across cultural limitations and boundaries.
